Learning empathy

Second grade students at Augusta Elementary spent the last week of September collecting items for the Hampshire County Animal Shelter. Students have spent the entire month learning about empathy, and they wrapped up their Capturing Kids Hearts unit on empathy by making a donation to the shelter. Ms. Patty from the shelter came to the school Friday, Oct. 1 to collect all of the toys, food, treats, blankets, detergents and monetary donations the students brought in. She was absolutely thrilled to receive the items, and was sure that the fur babies would love them too.
