To honor veterans, Slanesville Elementary School held a Veterans Day parade and assembly Friday, Nov. 12 at 9 a.m., with about 25 veterans in attendance. The 5th graders were leading the event, and the halls of the school were decorated in red, white and blue for those who served our country. ❏

A gray and misty Saturday morning failed to dampen spirits as Capon Bridge’s annual Halloween parade headed to the Capon Bridge Public Library for a story, free books and bags of goodies in the library pavilion, with more fun in store back at The River House.

Last weekend saw 3 big events underway: the Hampshire Highland Arts and Music Festival and the Hampshire Heritage Car Show, both in Romney, as well as Capon Bridge's Veterans Appreciation Festival.

Snaps from the 2021 West Virginia Peach Festival, held in Romney Aug. 6-8. Over 4,000 people came out to visit the vendors, buy peaches, play games, listen to live music and enjoy each other's company.
