Susan DeVan
Gadfly
Born and raised in Washington, DC, Susan and her husband, Richard, retired to Romney after thirty years of vacationing in West Virginia with their children.

They are members of Ice Mountain Writers, West Virginia Writers, and Alpha Literary and Philosophical Society in Fairfax, VA. Susan received a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (International Affairs) from Georgetown University, with some post-graduate studies in Astronomy, Theology, and Political Geography. Susan has received statewide and national prizes for humorous fiction and one-act plays; published poems and small pieces in national magazines; and is currently working on a humorous book. She has been employed as: Geographer for U.S. Department of Interior; Analyst for Defense Intelligence Agency; Office Manager for an international organization; and lobbyist to WV state legislature in Charleston. As a full-time mother she ran businesses from home and worked at various part-time jobs. Now she enjoys writing almost daily, traveling frequently, reading, artwork, communicating with people, and entertaining friends and family (six children, their spouses, and five grandchildren) who love the beauty and tranquility of Hampshire County. Eventually Susan hopes once again to pursue her passion - competitive foil fencing!
