Interim CEO chosen at Burlington children’s home

ROMNEY — Alexander C. Carmichel IV, a 1971 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College, closely related to the United Methodist Church, has been chosen as interim CEO of Burlington United Methodist Family Services.
A meeting of the Services board of director’s met Tuesday with staff in Burlington to make the announcement, according Carmichel’s executive assistant Sandra Stump.
The announcement comes just three weeks after the departure of Dr. Douglas Huntt, who tendered his resignation June 9 amid rumored controversy.
Huntt had served as director of the facility for nearly five years, according to a long-time employee.
Carmichel is from Florida where he had been a part-time CEO of the Florida based Foundation for Foster Children in Osceola.
He was president of the Kentucky United Methodist Home for Children and Youth prior to retiring.
Today, (July 1), is Carmichel’s first day at work in Burlington.
As interim he will get things in motion, continue to work on our goals and objectives.
One of Carmichel’s first duties will be to work on a self-assessment and future leadership of the services.
Following which a permanent CEO will be hired.
No time frame has been set to hire a new CEO.
The long-time employee said Carmichel is in the process of meeting and greeting employees and staff.
