School board personnel moves announced
ROMNEY — The Hampshire County Board of Education held a special meeting Monday, June 29, 2009, at the offices of the Hampshire County Board of Education. This was the 39th meeting of the 2008-2009 school year.
The following board members were in attendance: Bernard Hott, president; Linda Baker, vice president; Jim Breinig, Lisa Hileman and Gerald Mathias, members.
Superintendent Lewis recommended and board members approved the agenda.
Presentations:
A. Eileen Johnson, city administrator; Dan Hileman, Romney City councilman and mayor; and Dan Ferrell, Thrasher Engineering representative, discussed the proposed treatment plant for the City of Romney.
B. Jeff Meadows, principal at Hampshire High, discussed schedules at Hampshire High.
C. Denise Hott, director of finance, presented current financials.
D. Superintendent Lewis gave an update regarding the water project to Slanesville and personal business days.
Board members were given the following informational item:
A copy of a letter dated June 11, 2009, from the West Virginia Department of Education approving the 2009-2010 budget.

Non-consent items:
A. Superintendent Lewis recommended and board members approved the third reading and subsequent adoption of Policy 2114 – Meeting State Performance Indicators.
B. Superintendent Lewis recommended and board members approved the third reading and subsequent adoption of the following new policies: 1130: Conflict of Interest – Private Practice (Administration), 2260.01 – Section 504/ADA Prohibition Against Discrimination Based on Disability; 2600 – Educational Program, 3113- Conflict of Interest – Private Practice (Professional Staff) and 8210 – School Calendar.
C. Superintendent Lewis recommended and board members approved the proposed fee for the basic architectural services for the Hampshire High School auto shop addition with Williamson Shriver Architects at 8 percent of the cost of the lowest actual bid.
D. Superintendent Lewis recommended and board members designated the general fund balance for June 30, 2009, as presented at the meeting.
E. Superintendent Lewis recommended and board members changed Denise Hott’s, director of finance, pay to be a Master’s plus 30 with five years’ experience and that she be tied into the teacher’s scale.
