Robert Flanagan, thrice retired—US Army, Raytheon Corp., and teaching college English, Lit and Writing—has lived in Yellow Spring for 23 years. He is in his ninth year as author of “Bits & Pieces”; has published one book of collected columns; has a second in the works; and has in print a book of short fiction. He has two book-length poetry mss crying for publication; but his main project is a novel of the Vietnam War, a lengthy work of long devotion, to the first draft of which he recently wrote “The End.” Married 50 years, Herself and he have four children, ten grandchildren and four ggc. Bob earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, a Master’s in English, and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from George Mason University after military retirement. His hobbies are reading and good food; his compulsion is writing. |

Born into an Italian/American family with alot of the old world view of family along with the new world view of what it took to be an American. Raised and educated in New England. His hobbies include shooting, cooking, reading, and writing. He loves to have dinner with friends and family and talking politics. He lives in Capon Bridge with his wife Lana and has 2 daughters (and their respective husbands) and 3 grandchildren. He looks forward to writing articles which will inform you, the reader of the issues we face and challenges that will be set before us. |

Nora has been with the Hampshire Review for 45 years. She has been office manager, columnist and feature writer. Due to semi-retirement, she is now a proofreader and writes a Chat column and a Consumer Report weekly. A collection of her columns on what it was like growing up on a farm have been published in book form. She has been married for 53 years, has four children, four grandchildren and one great-grandson. She feels her greatest accomplishment in her years at the newspaper has been the numerous friends she has made. |

The Garden Path by Sally Mullins |
Sally has been gardening since she was very young. She lived in Reston for 17 years and moved to Charles Town in 1990 to get away from the crowds.
When all the new building began in Charles Town in 2000, she and her husband began looking farther out to get away from it all. She and her husband bought property, built a house and moved here 6 years ago when they both retired.
She has 3 children scattered to the three winds: Olney, MD, San Francisco and Key West. Sally loves gardening, but she also loves horseback riding with her friends for hours in the mountains at North River Mountain Ranch. Horses are a new interest she acquired when she moved.

Terri Haney is a mom, writer, and marketing coordinator in the construction industry. Her first non-fiction piece was published in 1995 in “I Love Cats” magazine. Since then, she’s worked primarily as a marketing and advertising writer, but has also written articles for Insights, Pinellas County News, Aiken County magazine, Shenandoah magazine, and The Hampshire Review. She has been writing for the Hampshire Review since 2004, and is currently working on a collection of columns, as well as her first novel. Terri lives with her family in Slanesville, WV, and is the author of "A Day in the Life ."

David Warne r has a B.S. degree and a Masters in Forest Ecology from Southern Illinois University near where he grew up in southern Illinois. He has lived in West Virginia since 1978, is a licensed Professional Forester in West Virginia and Maryland, a Certified Forester by the Society of American Foresters, Vice-Chair of the WV Chapter of the Association of Consulting foresters, and President of the Cacapon & Lost Rivers Land Trust. He owns and operates TimberLand Consulting ( www.timberlandconsulting.com), a forestry consulting service based in Hampshire County.

Marla has been a journalist for more than three decades. She has worked for the Journal in Martinsburg, The State Journal, the Spirit of Jefferson in Charles Town and has written articles for the County News, a national publication. Most recently she worked as editor to the Mineral Daily News in Keyser.
She lives with her husband Vince in New Creek. Marla joined the Hampshire Review team in August 2007. |
