WVSDB CAMPUS: Substitute Teachers - Must have or be eligible for a WV Professional Teaching Certificate or a WV Substitute Teaching Permit. Must have or acquire Sign Language and/or Braille skills as outlined in the WVSDB Communication Policy within two years of employment. Preference given to candidates with endorsement in HI or VI and those with ASL or Braille proficiency. Substitute Aides Must have high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 21 years old. Must pass or have passed the state written test for classroom instructional aides. Experience working as a classroom instructional aide preferred. Must have or acquire sign language and/or Braille skills as outlined in WVSDB Communication Policy. Must have or acquire First Aid and CPR certification. Substitute Child Care Workers – High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 24 years old to work with elementary age children and 28 years old to work with secondary age children. Must have or acquire sign language and/or Braille skills as needed for the job assignment within one full year of employment. Must be physically able to lift fifty pounds. Must pass Houseparent Test. Substitute Lifeguards – Must hold current Lifeguard Certification issued through the American Red Cross, YMCA/YWCA or other nationally recognized accrediting organization/agency. Must have current First Aid and CPR certification. Must be 18 years of age and available to work day, evening or weekend shifts. Criminal Background Investigation and current negative tuberculin test required. Substitute Cooks High school diploma or equivalent required. Three years of experience as a cook in a large scale food preparation program preferred. Must acquire and maintain food handler’s certificate. Must take and pass WV School Service Personnel Cook Test. Must obtain sign language proficiency level as outlined in the WVSDB Communication Policy. Substitute Regional Outreach Specialist (B/LV) Master’s Degree in Special Education or a related field required. Must have or be eligible for a West Virginia Professional Certificate with endorsement in the area of 4203-Visually Impaired PK-AD. Expected communication goal level will be Braille Level II as evidenced by successful completion of a Braille reading and transcription exam. At least five years of work experience with children who are B/LV, preferably in early intervention services required. Experience with data collection, analysis and derivation of reports preferred. Must have demonstrated proficiency in public relations. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to travel statewide to effectively accomplish job responsibilities.
