CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Three West Virginia Senate leaders are taking an economic development trip to Taiwan.
Senate President Jeff Kessler, Finance Chairman Roman Prezioso and Economic Development Chairman Bob Williams are scheduled to leave Thursday for a weeklong trip to Taipei, Taiwan.
The government in Taiwan is sponsoring the trip.
Kessler says West Virginia lawmakers have made similar trips in the past.
During this trip, the lawmakers are scheduled to meet with energy provider CPC Corp. and furniture manufacturers. Kessler says they’ll also meet with public health officials to discuss health research issues.
State data show that West Virginia exports to Taiwan totaled more than $78 million in 2012.
