9-12-13 Les Miserable audition Sept. 15-16

KEYSER — Potomac State College of West Virginia University announces auditions for the blockbuster musical, “Les Miserables.” Tryouts will be held at The Church McKee Arts Center on campus at Keyser.

Audition dates are Sunday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. Participants should prepare 16 bars of music and an accompanist will be provided. Those seeking a lead role should sing that character’s song from the show. People interested in the ensemble should prepare any song that shows off their voice. Individuals only need to attend one of the audition dates.

A strong young male ensemble is needed for the 8-10 student revolutionary roles.

Also, the leads of Jean Valjean and Javert are open. A young girl (age 7-12) is needed for the role of young Cosette who sings “Castle in the Clouds.” Also, a young, charismatic boy who sings well is needed for the role of Gavroche.

Show dates are March 20-30, 2014, with rehearsals slated to begin in January, 2014. Directing the show is Tom Valentine with music director Craig Schutz. Orchestra director is Dr. Brian Plitnik and rehearsal pianist Marianne Schutz.
