CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The state Department of Health and Human Resources is having thousands of clothing vouchers reprinted for low-income families after it was discovered some vouchers were damaged.

DHHR spokeswoman Allison Adler said Friday about 10,400 vouchers will be printed and mailed out on Monday. A shop had discovered some boxes of vouchers were damp and unusable during an earlier print run.

Tens of thousands of vouchers that weren’t damaged have already been shipped out.

West Virginia residents began applying for the vouchers for eligible children on July 1 toward the purchase of school clothing. Families were eligible if they met income guidelines.

July 31 was the deadline for submitting applications. Families must use the vouchers at participating stores by Oct. 31.
