Area tournament this weekend at HHS

Romney Post 91 went 1-2 in action last week, beating Potomac Valley in one game and losing another, then dropping a rain-shortened contest to Berkeley Post 14.

In the lone win, Matt Maiers and Jameson Jones both launched grand slams and Josh Crawford went the distance in the 15-1 rout.

Maiers finished 2-3, also adding a double and finished with 6 RBI.

In the second game of the double-header, Potomac Valley scored the winning run on a late game walk and emerged with a 7-6 victory.

Josh Crawford and Shane Ennis both went 2-3, and Cole Smith had 2 RBI.

Last Sunday a make-up game was held with Berkeley, and in the rain-shortened game Post 14 beat Romney 3-0. Post 91 is now 27-7 on the year.

This weekend is the area tournament, pitting #1 seed Romney against #2 Jefferson, #3 Berkeley and #4 Potomac Valley.

Play begins Thursday at 4 p.m. and Romney’s first game will begin at 7:30. All Games will be held at Hampshire High School and play will continue throughout the weekend.

If Post 91 emerges winners, they will head to Morgantown next week to continue in the postseason.
