CHARLESTON — West Virginia’s unemployment rate dropped again in June, to 6.1 percent.
WorkForce West Virginia reports the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was down one-tenth of a percentage point from May.
The number of state residents without a job is now at 48,400, down 1,700 from May and 11,800 from June 2012.
Total non-farm payroll employment fell 5,000, with a loss of 800 in the goods-producing sector and a loss of 4,200 in the service-providing sector. That includes a drop of 2,500 in government jobs.
Bright spots included an increase of 500 in manufacturing and 900 in professional and business services.
The national unemployment rate remained at 7.6 percent in June.
