Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (WV-02) received the National Down Syndrome Society’s (NDSS) Superhero Award Wednesday for her work on behalf of people with disabilities.
“I am honored to receive the NDSS’ Superhero Award. As a mother of three, working on behalf of children with disabilities and their parents is very important to me. One in every 691 babies in the United States is born with Down syndrome. With more than 400,000 people in the United States with Down syndrome, organizations like the NDSS play a vital role in increasing public awareness and providing community support programs.”
