CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Board of Education on Wednesday elected Gayle Manchin as its president for 2013-2014, while choosing Michael Green as vice president and Robert Dunlevy as secretary.
Manchin, who had served two terms as vice president, was appointed to the state Board of Education in 2007 to serve a nine-year term ending 2015. She attended West Virginia University, where she attained her bachelor’s degree in language arts and education and a master’s in reading. She also holds a second master’s in educational technology leadership from Salem International University.
“I am honored that my colleagues have entrusted me with this position,” Manchin said. “I am confident that we will continue to work together to move forward on important educational issues that affect our students, our teachers, our schools, our communities and our state.”
