Goldie Irene Alkire, 94, of Slanesville, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013, at Hampshire Center.

Born April 3, 1919, in Hoy, she was the daughter of the late William Pryor Luttrell and Ida Coates Luttrell. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Holden D. Alkire, in 1977; 2 sisters, Dorothy Beery and Arvella Heironomous; and 2 brothers, Paul Luttrell and Leslie Luttrell.

She served as postmaster of the Slanesville Post Office for 25 years. She was a member of the Slanesville Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder and past treasurer.

Surviving is a daughter, Janet Crabtree and husband Glen of Romney; a son, Ronald Alkire and wife Claris of Winchester, Va.; a brother, Raymond Luttrell of Berkeley Springs; 3 grandchildren, Deborah Tizio, J.R. Crabtree and Sheila Hoffman; 9 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held on Monday July 8, at 12 p.m. in McKee Funeral Home Chapel with pastors Patrick Lanaghan and Robert Jeffreys officiating.

Interment was in Salem Cemetery, Points.
