Several Hampshire County school buses are running late this afternoon (Tuesday) due to downed trees.

Edith “Eileen” Wagoner, a resident of Springfield for 78 years, died peacefully at home on Friday, July 5, 2013, under the loving care of her family and hospice.

Born June 28, 1935, in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Gladys Wolford Pownall.

She was a pillar of Springfield United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was a lay leader for many years.

Surviving is her husband, Samuel L. Wagoner; a daughter, Scarlet Evick and husband Charlie; a son, Clay Samuel Wagoner and wife Danyelle; 4 granddaughters, Victoria, Katie, Cari, and Kaila Evick, and 2 grandsons, Gunner and Cain Wagoner.  She was the oldest of 3 brothers and sisters, Richard Pownall, Paul Pownall and John Pownall; Shirley Burkett, Doris Fields and Betty Lease.

A funeral service was held Sunday, July 7, at 2 p.m. in Upchurch Funeral Home, Fort Ashby, with pastor Dan Dennison officiating.

Interment was in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
