The Hampshire County Board of Education held a special meeting on Thursday, May 30, at 4 p.m. at the central office.
All Board members were in attendance.
Purpose: The Hampshire County Board of Education met in special session to consider the possible expulsions of 2 students and to hold a public budget hearing. Regular business was also addressed.
Board members approved the agenda.
There were no appearances.
Deb Hartsock, Elementary curriculum director, discussed vacation concerns/suggestions.
Two student hearings were held.
Approval of minutes:
Board members approved the May 20, Board of Education minutes.
Consent agenda items:
Board members approved the following personnel items:
1. Re-employ Margaret Carlin as a teacher for grade 5 at Romney Elementary.
Transfer Susan Eyre to kindergarten teacher at Capon Bridge Elementary.
Transfer Peggy LaFollette to grade 2 teacher at Capon Bridge Elementary.
Re-employ Suzette Bowen as grade 4 teacher at Capon Bridge Elementary.
Re-employ Erica Kimble as grade 5 teacher at Slanesville Elementary.
Transfer Roxianne McCarty to special education teacher at Capon Bridge Middle.
Transfer Megan Fuller to special education teacher at Hampshire High.
Employ Gary Trail as a special education teacher at Hampshire High.
2. Retirement of professional personnel:
James M. Tyree, mathematics teacher at Hampshire High School, effective June 30, 2013.
3. Employment of extra curricular personnel:
Employ Linda Staub, Susan Streisel, Charles Streisel, Roxianne McCarty, Diane Wells and Gary Trail as homebound teachers (county-wide) effective for the 2013-14 school year.
Permission to post for an itinerant classroom aide/transportation aide at Hampshire High for the 2013-14 school year.
Change Deanna Poling’s effective day to begin as secretary of Romney Elementary from May 22, 2013 to May 28, 2013.

Special budget hearing:
A public budget hearing was held.
Denise Hott, finance director, discussed the 2014 proposed budget.
Non-consent agenda item:
Board members approved the FY 2014 budget.
