This concert will feature the band’s trumpet section which includes Jon Bush, Tom Simpson, Phil Fertig, and Bill AuMiller, along with guest artist, Jimmy Lay. Lay is a former member of the Airmen of Note, which is the premier jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force.
Each member of the trumpet section, including director Fred Kesner, will be featured throughout the evening. A highlight will be Lay’s performance of “Somewhere Out There” which he recorded with the Airmen of Note on the album of the same name. This ballad was written for the 1986 animated film, “An American Tail.”
The saxophone section of the ensemble includes Richard Frush, Heather Williams, Ed Cameron, Charlie Paskun, and Mike Pfaff. Trombone players are Will Nose, Lynn Zeller, Evan Coleman, Dan Moreland, and Herb Lambert. The rhythm section consists of Ed Morgret on piano, Jim Roderick on bass and Bart Lay on drums.
“I hope everyone will come out and support the live performance of jazz and big band music in our community,” said Kesner.
