3/21/13 – The Green Spring Toll Bridge is now open according to Jennifer Bishoff, Hampshire County 911.
GREEN SPRING — A tractor-trailer attempting to cross the low-water bridge from here to Oldtown slipped off the structure into the Potomac shortly before 10 this morning.
The wreck has closed down the privately owned toll bridge “for an extended period of time,” Hampshire County’s 911 center reported.
Police, fire and rescue united from both Maryland and West Virginia were at the scene. The bridge and Potomac are under Maryland jurisdiction.
The driver, whose name was not available, was apparently uninjured. “Just cold and wet,” one firefighter said.
