It may be the time of year for March Madness and Opening Day, but NFL free agency came in like a lion this week.
Big name players were on the move almost from the get go once the clock struck 4 p.m. on Tuesday, the first day free agents could sign
Highlights, as of Thursday morning, include:
1.) Wide Receiver Percy Harvin was traded by the Vikings to the Seattle Seahawks for a first round draft pick this year.
2.) Those same Seahawks signed Cliff Avril two a two year deal. Avril, formerly of the Detroit Lions, was one of the elite defensive players available this season.
3.) Wes Welker, spurned by the Patriots, signed a two year deal to play with Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.
4.) To make up for losing Welker, the Patriots signed Danny Amendola, formerly of the Rams, to a five-year, $30 million contract.
5.) Rashard Mendenhall, the oft-injured Steelers RB signed with the Arizona Cardinals.
6.) Reggie Bush is no longer a Dolphin, as he signed a deal to be a lead RB for the Detroit Lions.
There will surely be a lot more comings and goings in the days leading up to next month’s NFL draft. Stay tuned here for another run down a bit closer to that.
