ROMNEY, W.Va. — A WINTER STORM WATCH is in effect for Hampshire County, the Potomac Highlands and the Eastern Panhandle.
Snow will arrive Tuesday evening, March 5, and will continue through Wednesday evening. This will be a heavy, wet snow with 5 inches or more possible in the watch area.
A low pressure system will track through Southern Virginia and Northern North Carolina as it strengthens. This will spread a heavy snow into the area Tuesday night into Wednesday night.
It will become windy as the storm intensifies off the coast Wednesday afternoon. Winds out of the northeast at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph are possible, according to the National Weather Service. Some tree limbs may break from the weight of the snow as well.
The combination of heavy wet snow and gusty winds could lead to power outages.
