Norman Earl Walzer Sr., 75, of Capon Bridge, died on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at his home.

Born Aug. 31, 1937, in Norfolk Va., he was the son of the late Norman Edward and Barbara C. Griffin Walzer. Also preceding him in death were his wife, Pamela Rae Lemmo Walzer, who died March 24, 2000; a son, Norman E. “Sonny” Walzer Jr.; a daughter, Tina M. Walzer; and a brother, John Walzer.

He worked as a mechanic for over 30 years and also worked for the Harry Lundeberg School in Piney Point, Md., for 10 years. He was a veteran in the United States Marine Corp where he was in the infantry during the Korean Conflict and was a diesel mechanic in the United States Air Force. While in the Marines he won four Golden Glove Championships. He was a member of American Legion Post 137 in Capon Bridge.

Surviving are three sons: Joseph Zimmerman of Meadville, Pa.; Kenneth Lemmo of Wheeling and James Walzer of Capon Bridge; five daughters, Jennifer Zimmerman of Meadville, Pa.; Laura Walzer Hammett of Capon Bridge, Terry Walzer of St. Louis, Mo.; Barbara Walzer of Germantown, Md.; and Sandra Walzer of Lexington Park, Md.; one brother, Robert Walzer of Stephens City, Va.; one sister, Joan Kiser of Lusby, Md.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Giffin Funeral Home in Capon Bridge on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gregory R. Kenney officiating.

Inurnment will be private at a later date.
