JoAnn Killmon, 60, of Parrill Hollow Road, Burlington, formerly of Dundalk, Md., died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born on Nov. 15, 1952, at Baltimore, Md., she was a daughter of the late Robert R. and Lillian Abate Scherr.
She was formerly employed as a beautician and as a caregiver for both children and the elderly and had been employed with the Mineral County Aging and Family Services. Roman Catholic by faith, she was a former member of Our Lady of Hope Church in Dundalk, Md. She was a very family-oriented person, always making sure that her husband, children and grandchildren were well taken care of. She also was instrumental in raising several foster children, who grew to love her as “Mom.”
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Charles E. “Bucky” Killmon; one daughter, Roberta Ann Killmon and fiancé, Benjamin Day of Burlington; one son, Charles Robert Killmon of Burlington; two sisters, Lucille Greason of Joppa, Md., and Jacqueline Bondura and husband Matt of Dundalk; five grandchildren, Mark Charles Williams and companion Amanda Reitz, Christine Renee Williams, Holly Nicole Williams, Robert Ruby Killmon and Cara Day; one great-grandson, Braeden Charles Williams; brother-in-law, Rek Killmon and wife Bea of Dundalk; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews.
A funeral service was conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 8 p.m. with Father Giles Levassueur officiating.
Interment was in the Killmon Family Cemetery, Burlington.
