The official opening of Shepherd’s pedestrian underpass will be held today, Monday, Jan. 7, at 2:15 p.m.
The underpass project is a $5.65 million construction endeavor undertaken by Shepherd in an effort to increase pedestrian safety and improve traffic flow on one of Shepherdstown’s main thoroughfares.
The underpass connects the two campuses and eliminates pedestrian crossings on Route 480 by raising the roadway and creating a pedestrian walkway. The location of the pedestrian underpass is approximately 25 yards northeast of the existing pedestrian crosswalk.
