CAPON BRIDGE — A two-story home just two doors east of the Capon Bridge Volunteer Fire Department sustained minor damage Monday evening.

A fire at this home on U.S. Route 50 in Capon Bridge was quickly extinguished early Monday evening.

“The call came in at 6:40 p.m. The first unit was on scene within five minutes and the fire was contained by 7 p.m.,” said Jerry Loudin, chief of 911 operations.

Augusta Fire Chief George Weaver said, “The pipe from a wood stove where it went through the wall was the cause of the fire.”

Weaver said he removed the pipe and the fire was contained.

“The first floor had minor damage,” said Loudin. “The scene was cleared by 8 p.m.”

The homeowner’s name was not available.

Units on the scene included the Capon Bridge Volunteer Fire Department, Gore Volunteer Fire Department, Augusta Volunteer Fire Department and the Capon Bridge Ambulance Service.
