School board approves fundraisers, volunteers

All board members were in attendance.
Board members approved the agenda.
I. Appearances:
There were no appearances.
II. Presentations:
A. Mary Bowman and Judy Bowyer discussed the backpack ministry at the Capon Bridge schools.
B. Bonita Wilcox, board member, discussed her participation in the RESA VIII meeting.
III. Approval of board minutes: Board members approved the Sept. 4, Board of Education minutes.
IV. Consent agenda items: Board members approved the following consent agenda items for schools:
A. The following fundraiser requests:
Hampshire High:
Band: school apparel sales.
Skills USA: “thirty-one” tote bags and organizers sales, candle sales and jewelry sales.
National Technical Honor Society: candle sales.
Boys’ Basketball: bowling tournament, foul shoot-a-thon and all you can eat dinner.
DECA: chicken barbecue and bake sale and hoagie sales (2).
John J. Cornwell Elementary:
PTO: box tops collections, Coke rewards and Campbell’s labels.
Capon Bridge Elementary:
Faculty: laser and ink cartridge collections.
Augusta Elementary:

V. Non-consent agenda items:
A. Board members approved the Family Preservation Services of WV, Inc. contract.
B. Board members tabled the Real Estate Sales Contract to purchase Lot No. 30 of Valley View Subdivision containing 6.55 acres, more or less, in Sherman District for a bus garage.
C. Board members approved the purchase contract/lease renewal for copiers with Queen City Business Systems in the amount of $7,477/month for 60 months.
D. Board members awarded the bid for a new steamer at Slanesville Elementary from C & T Design in the amount of $22,878.27.
